What are the safe zone specifications for Adnami ads?

Ensuring Content Visibility in Responsive: A Guide to Safe Zones and overlays

For years, digital designers have lived with strict pixel dimensions and static templates. But as screens become more varied and High Impact advertising takes up more space, the old rules are no longer enough. At Adnami, our entire technology is built on a "responsive" philosophy: here, we never talk about pixels – we talk about Viewport and Percentage.

Responsive Formats & Banners

Most standard banners have a fixed size (e.g., 970x250 px). But Adnami's formats, such as Topscroll, Midscroll, and Skins, are viewport-based and native to their environment. This means that the ad's size is determined by the user's browser window, and the layout of the site it's apearing on, not by a fixed container.

Since a browser window can be anything from a 13-inch laptop to a 34-inch ultrawide screen, there is no fixed "edge" to relate to. The ad "flows" and adapts in real-time.

Safe Zones for Formats & Banners

A 'safe zone' is traditionally the area within your creative where you should place critical content (logos, messaging, CTAs) to ensure it is not cropped or hidden, regardless of the user's screen resolution or browser window size.

For a quick rule of thumb:

  • Keep all logos, main headlines and CTAs inside the safe zone.
  • Use areas outside the safe zone mainly for background imagery.

Safe Zones for Responsive Formats & Banners

As Adnami High Impact formats are responsive, and placed in a responsive environment, the concept of a static safe zone (e.g., "stay 20px from the left") is obsolete. The reason for that is because our formats often use "cover"-logic, the background asset will scale and crop accordingly, to comply users screens and layout of the site.

This is the reason all formats except for Topscroll & Midscrolls, actually have Safe Zone-guidelines.

How to Guarantee Visibility in responsive formats: Overlays & Templates

Since you cannot "bake" your message into a static background and expect it to work everywhere, Adnami utilizes Overlays and Anchoring:

  1. The Background (The responsive Layer): Think of this as your canvas. It should be atmospheric and able to handle cropping on all sides.

  2. The Message (The Overlays): Upload your logos, headlines, and CTAs as separate transparent PNG or SVG files.

  3. The Anchoring: Within Adnami Studio, you "anchor" these overlays to a position (e.g., Top Left or Center). The system then uses percentage-based offsets to keep them in place regardless of the screen size.

FAQ

  • Can I trust the Safe Zone Tool? Yes and no. The tool is developed based on the most common standard. But there might be local differences, and extreme scenarios. To ensure ultimate visibility, we recommend a full responsive banner in HTML5 and avoid static material such as Image & Video.

  • What is the safe zone in a banner or video ad? Only Adnami Topscroll and Midscroll have designated safe areas, and they vary by format. Visit the Safe Zone tool to see exact areas and validate your asset: https://www.adnami.io/creative-tools
  • How big should the safe zone be (in %) for this format/size?  Visit the Safe Zone tool to see exact areas and validate your asset: https://www.adnami.io/creative-tools
  • What happens if text or logos go outside the safe zone? There's a risk of it will not be visible on all screen at the same time.
  • Is the safe zone the same on desktop and mobile placements? Yes, but it varies by format.
  • Does the safe zone change between different publishers or ad networks? Yes, there might be local differences. Most times Adnami safe zones and guidelines are sufficient. Please reach out to the media for exact areas.
  • How do I set up guides for the safe zone in Figma/Photoshop/After Effects? You can use the %-dimensions defined in the Safe Zone tool to see exact areas. Or upload you assets and validate your asset in our online safe zone tool: https://www.adnami.io/creative-tools
  • Do interactive elements (buttons, CTAs) also have to stay inside the safe zone? Yes, that's recommended.
  • Can I get a template that already has the safe zone marked in? Visit the Safe Zone tool to see exact areas and validate your asset: https://www.adnami.io/creative-tools
  • The specific format I am designing, has no tool (e.g. Topscroll Expand):
These format don’t have a dedicated safe‑zone. We recommend keeping key content and messages in overlays.

  • Why does my logo/text appears as cropped or not visible in the preview?
This usually happens when important elements sit outside the recommended safe zone. To fix it, we suggest: upload your asset in our Safe Zone tool:
https://www.adnami.io/creative-tools. Adjust the creative so all key elements (logo/headlines/CTAs) are moved into the safe zone.

Summary: Adnami formats do not have fixed safe zones because they are designed to be fully responsive. By using percentage-based offsets and separate overlays, you ensure your brand message remains perfect on every screen, every time.
