Publisher FAQ

We have gathered some of the most frequently asked questions from new and established publishers.

Q: Which kind of enablers can I choose from?
A: Please see our enabler document: Enabler document.

Q: What is Overflow Hidden?
A:  Overflow:hidden is a CSS property that hides elements that spill outside of the parent div. For example, if a div A has overflow set to hidden, any element inside div A with a width or height greater than A will be cut off to the width and height of A. In some cases, this means that viewability is not tracked because the iframe is cut off due to the overflow. For Midscrolls, it sometimes cuts off the Midscroll, preventing it from taking the full width.

Q: What are x-frame options and what should a publisher do with them?
A: X-frame options is a header, essentially metadata added when the file is requested in the browser. Publishers need to remove it from the on-domain enabler file (adnm.html) to ensure that we can use it to load our script. This is only valid if the publisher uses our On Domain enabler.

Q: How do I see macro-implementation that I can trust?
A: The extension tool always shows a live representation of the macro that is implemented.

Q: How can I see if the On Domain file is implemented correctly?
A: Add /adnami/adnm.html after the website URL, for instance, https://www.sandbox.libe.io/adnami/adnm.html. If the page is blank, it is implemented correctly. If it shows 404 or something else, then it’s not.

Q: What happens if I change a macro from “GUID” to “hostname”? Do we need to do a new certification?
A: You are only updating to a newer version of our macros. The certification remains the same for that macro. The new macro helps by making site certification easier and maintenance simpler. If there are issues with the old macro, we need to update the certification. However, changing the macro on the site does not affect the current certification as long as it contains the host (URL).

Q: Publisher changes ad server, does Adnami need to re-certify?
A: A publisher switching ad servers does not affect our certification unless they change the site layout or add new ad units for our formats. Clients can always test using our extension tool. We are also happy to review changes if provided with information about what has changed.

Q: Can I implement the Adnami script via Google Tag Manager and what do I need to be aware of?
A: Yes, the Adnami script can be implemented through Google Tag Manager or similar. Ensure that the script loads on every page load and preferably before the ad server loads on the page. Reach out to your Adnami representative if you have any further questions.

Q: What is the difference between certifying for a native app and a webview app and which formats can we theoretically run in either of those?
A: Since a native app is a closed environment we cannot do a standard certification, instead we refer to this article on native app certification: How to get Adnami formats in app.
The only format that works in native apps at the present time is Midscrolls. In web-view apps we can access the code and can therefore certify for all formats.

Q: Is there an alternative to Programmatic Lite (when On Page or On Domain is not an option)?
A: If you are using an SSP that allows rendering in friendly iframes, this would work as well. We just need to be delivered in an ad unit we can “break” out from.

Q: What causes the double loading of our creatives on a publisher's website (which results in low viewability)?
A: For specific formats, such as Topscroll, certification requires the ad unit to always appear at the top of the page. If a publisher books a Topscroll in two placements, this results in double loading. The same applies to the Skin format. We recommend structuring deals to ensure only one ad unit per format is selected for Topscroll and Skin.

Q: What is the difference between the creative dimensions in the platform vs. placement sizes in the specs vs. accepted sizes in the DSPs?
A: Creative sizes in the platform should in general be the same size that is being added in the deal. Since our high impact formats are resized when rendering on the website, we are not limited by the size inserted in the platform. Be aware that the size in the deal always matches the size on the creative.

Q: How do I optimise viewability on my site?
A: Please refer to our guide. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. Viewability and Attention optimisation guide.

Q: How do I reduce load time on my site?
A: Adnami are not experts in optimising websites, but we have created a general guide on how to optimise the site. Viewability and Attention optimisation guide.. We are always available for a call if you have questions. Please reach out to your Adnami representative.

Q: Topscroll is not performing as well as I had hoped, what can be done to improve the performance?
A: We recommend testing Adnami’s “scroll to top” solution, which soft-scrolls a percentage of users back to the top once the Topscroll ad has loaded, provided they haven’t scrolled beyond a certain number of pixels on the site. Additionally, consider alternative Topscroll formats like Topscroll Expand or Fullpage Overlay, which have higher attention numbers and perform similarly to Topscroll.

Q: I set up a programmatic deal with a client but there is no spending, what can I check?
A: First thing is to check that the deal is delivering bid requests. If so, check that you have added the correct size in the deal and that the same size is added in the creative on the buy-side. If the above is all done correctly, ask the client if it’s possible to check with the troubleshooter, and if anything stands out please contact either your adserver support or Adnami for further assistance.

Please reach out to your Adnami representative if the above questions does not answer your questions or contact Adnami Support.
