How to use the Adnami Extension Tool?

How to use the Adnami extension tool to visualise and test different formats and creatives on certified websites.

1. Download the Chrome extension tool here

Once you have downloaded our extension tool, you can use it to visualise how formats would look on your relevant website.

2. Visualising the formats

When opening the extension, you have the possibility to select which format you would like to test.

You can choose between Popular formats, our most used formats or other formats.

Once it’s selected, you will see ad units appearing as green boxes. Click on one of the green boxes and the format will appear on the site.

3. Autoinject format
Some of the Adnami formats are often rendered in out-of-page ad units. Therefore we have created a autoinject format button for our topscrolls. It can be seen next to the format and looks like this:

Just click the icon and it will automatically inject the specified format on the website.

You can also test a specific creative using their creative code. You'll find the creative code in the preview link, creative tag or in the suite.

💡Remember that you need to click the trash-can to remove the creative code the next time since this is being cached.

How to use the Extension

Disclaimer: Why the Adnami Extension Tool Isn’t Always AccurateThe Adnami extension tool is designed to simulate how an ad format will appear on a given webpage. However, its preview isn’t always 100% reliable due to several reasons:
  1. Bypasses Ad Server Restrictions:
The extension injects the ad format directly into the page, ignoring any rules or restrictions that the actual ad server (like Google Ad Manager) might impose. This means it might show a version of the ad that wouldn’t actually be allowed or rendered in a live environment.
  2. No Real Ad Server Context:
Unlike Google’s preview tool, which tries to mimic a real ad call (including targeting, frequency capping, and other delivery rules), the extension tool doesn’t simulate the full ad tech stack. So it might show an ad where it wouldn’t normally appear.
  3. Incorrect Ad Unit Usage:
Sometimes publishers don’t place the ad format in the correct ad unit on the page. The extension might still show the ad as if everything is fine, but in reality, it wouldn’t serve correctly.
  4. Different Rendering Approaches:
The extension cleans up the ad unit and injects the format directly, while Google’s preview renders it within the full context of the page and ad server. This can lead to differences in layout, behavior, or even whether the ad appears at all.

4. Creative Finder: Find the creative on the website

  1. Click on "Find creatives" and the extension will search the full page and return all Adnami creatives that are rendered on the given page.

5. Find Macro information

  1. Click on Macro status
  2. A pop-up window will appear with the relevant information, including which formats the site has been certified for.
